Camping & Expeditioning

Many groups visiting Plas Gwynant see the expedition and night out as the highlight of their course, and it can take many forms. In the past, groups have undertaken high camps at remote lakes up in the mountains, stayed in mountain refuges, or bivouacked on the beach as part of a kayak expedition.

The camps achieve a number of objectives especially in terms of organisation and self-reliance. Staff view the camp as an integral part of our 2 week adventure courses, and accordingly devote a substantial number of hours planning and preparing the trip with their group.

We have the capability to allow all the students to camp out on the same evening, although not in the same place, and thus there tends to be a buzz of anticipation around the centre as the night approaches.
