Benefits to Users

The benefits of a course at Plas Gwynant are numerous, and every individual goes away with their own special memories and experiences. We believe that a course should concentrate as much on the personal and social issues that arise during a residential as the activities undertaken. Consequently we place a certain amount of responsibility on individuals in terms of looking after the specialist gear we give them as well as their own belongings. Students are also asked to contribute to the running of the centre by undertaking a small job as part of their daily routine, none of which are particularly arduous, but they do help stress the importance of the domestic side of a residential visit.

Obvious benefits of a stay at Plas Gwynant are the chances to try new and exciting activities, but the staff all try to relate these experiences to the learning process in general. As such we regularly review sessions so that students are aware of the more subtle issues that may have arisen from a given activity.

It is almost impossible to quantify the benefits of an outdoor education residential visit, and many would argue that to try would defeat the object in the first place. Suffice to say, however, that when a student mentions that their most memorable school week was the one at Plas Gwynant, the benefits speak for themselves.
