Equipment

At Plas Gwynant we believe that it is imperative that students are properly kitted out for the activities they are undertaking. As such, we issue a standard set of gear at the beginning of a course, for which each individual is responsible. This includes a rucksack, waterproof top and trousers, walking boots and a fleece top. Consequently, students need not buy any specialist clothing or equipment for the course. We do appreciate it though if people can bring a woolly hat and gloves for those chilly days on the mountain tops.

For individual activities, such as kayaking or rock climbing, we provide the necessary specialist equipment on a daily basis. We have a separate building complex for our equipment stores, which houses all the specialist gear, as well as a boot room for students, and a spin dryer for those really wet days!

So all our students need to bring is lots of old warm clothes that might get wet or muddy, an old pair of trainers for wet activities, and a pair of Wellington boots are useful as well if you have them. Tracksuit trousers or jogging bottoms are ideal for activities - jeans are really quite unsuitable. Please bring a lunchbox to keep your butties fresh as well! Some items of clothing, such as warm hats, thick socks, drinks bottles etc can be bought in the Plas Gwynant shop, and are often more suitable and cheaper than high street alternatives. Please enquire for availability.

Oh yes, and don't forget your posh clobber for looking good and socialising in the evenings!
